Greater Atlanta Chapter of ASIS International’s
2011
Law Enforcement Appreciation Luncheon
May 18, 2011
11:00 A.M. - 1:00 P.M.
Taking the LEAD Early!
Believe it or not, but our chapter is already
hard at work planning for the 2011 Law Enforcement Appreciation Day or “LEAD” which we will be hosting in May.
For those readers who are not familiar with this cornerstone chapter event, each year, the Greater Atlanta Chapter
of ASIS International hosts a Law Enforcement Appreciation Day which is attended by more than 400 front line police officers
and public safety executives from a wide range of jurisdictions throughout the state including law enforcement officials representing
all federal and state law enforcement agencies. In addition, the event is well attended by corporate directors
of security from many of Atlanta’s signature businesses, including Home Depot, Delta Airlines, Coca-Cola, UPS and TBS.
All sworn law enforcement personnel attend LEAD at no charge and our chapter secures corporate sponsors
to fund the event and purchase a wide range of prizes and gifts that we award to EVERY law enforcement officer who attends.
We also present a Law Enforcement Officer of the Year award to one officer who has demonstrated a high degree of bravery
and unselfishness in the execution of his/her duties. Last year’s event was an incredible success
and was the most attended LEAD celebration in the Chapter’s history! We are planning an even better
event for 2011! This year’s event will be once again held at the Downtown Hilton Hotel in Atlanta
on Wednesday, May 18, 2011 at 11:00 AM and will last until approximately 1:30 PM. Individual seats
are $50 and tables cost $350 prior to April 1 or $400 after April 1, 2011.
There are also four levels of sponsorship, including:
·
Bronze
$700.00 – Includes
sponsorship of 8 seats (6 law enforcement officers, 2 guests), and company name listed on the program.
·
Silver
$1,000.00 – Includes
sponsorship of 16 seats (10 law enforcement officers, 6 guests) and company name listed on the program.
·
Gold
$1,300.00 – Includes
sponsorship of Head
Table, 8 additional Seats
(6 law enforcement officers, 2 guests) company name and logo listed on program.
· Platinum $1,600.00 – Includes sponsorship of Guest Speaker, 16 seats (10 law enforcement officers, 6 guests) company name
and logo listed on the program.
The event will include a keynote speaker who will provide insight on a national level as to the trends and new initiatives
associated with law enforcement in America. As a private organization, ASIS understands the critical importance
of establishing and maintaining a triad partnership involving the police, the community and private security sector.
This is even more paramount today as jurisdictions are reducing expenditures in the area of public safety and must
rely on the private sector to help support public safety efforts. Jim Sellers, former Atlanta
Police Major, and an internationally known security consultant with Accion Security and long-term ASIS member has agreed to
once again serve as chairman for this important event. He is joined by a planning team that includes:
· Clint Armstrong
·
Mark Ferrebee
· John Garrigan
·
Tim Giles
· M. Hyman
·
Ashley Marratt
· Monique Wilkerson
We are far
into our planning efforts and have already secured the Honor Guard, singers for the National Anthem (it won’t be Christina
Aguilera!) and our bag pipe player who will play a moving tribute to all fallen officers. We also
have the exciting news to report that the Atlanta City Council will issue a City Proclamation declaring May 18, 2011 as ASIS
Law Enforcement Day in Atlanta! This proclamation will be presented at the LEAD event by Atlanta Councilman
Ivory Young who is chair of the Atlanta Public Safety Committee.
And finally, Dr. Robbie Friedmann former Criminal Justice Dean at Georgia State University and founding
director of the Georgia International Law Enforcement Exchange (GILEE) program has agreed to be our keynote speaker.
Robbie, as you know, is an internationally recognized author, speaker and professor on policing, terrorism and law
enforcement/private sector collaboration.
Although we have made much progress, we also need the assistance and financial support of our members and business community.
Here’s how you can help:
1. Volunteer to help the LEAD planning team organize the event
2. Sign-up to be a sales associate to help us sell event seats, tables and sponsorships
so we have the funds to honor our law enforcement partners
3. Donate
gifts (electronics, sporting goods, apparel, etc.), gift cards and/or door prizes to be awarded to attending officers –
we really need these to make this event special
4.
Contact your local police department
to invite them to the event and, in doing so, sponsor a table or seating in their honor
5. Sign up to be one of our sponsors
6.
Get the word out – our goal is
to sell 500 seats so we can invite even more law enforcement personnel from around the state!
7. Sign-up early to take advantage of an early registration price break to save $50.00 on a table! For more information on this event and how you can help lead LEAD contact, Jim Sellers at James.sellers@AccionSecurity.com. So, as they say, we hope you will LEAD by example and take part of this nationally recognized program.
Regardless of how you pay for your tables or tickets to this great event, Please fill out
the registration form and send it in along with a copy of your PayPal receipt so that we can get your tickets to you on time.
